Rebar: On March 9, the average price of 20mm Grade III seismic rebar in 31 major cities across China was 3,324 yuan per ton, up 24 yuan per ton from the previous trading day. In the short term, driven by rising raw material costs, strong cost support, and gradually normalizing demand, market sentiment remains broadly stable.
Hot-rolled coil: On March 9, the average price of 4.75mm hot-rolled coils in 24 major cities across China was 3,288 yuan/ton, up 23 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. Recently, influenced by a major conference, positive news boosted market sentiment and further fueled expectations for the future. Combined with geopolitical factors overseas, commodity prices generally rose, providing cost support for finished product prices. In terms of supply, maintenance activities have largely concluded, with gradual resumption, leading to a potential slight increase in short-term supply.
Cold-rolled coil: On March 9, the average price of 1.0mm cold-rolled coil in 24 major cities across the country was 3,790 yuan/ton, up 15 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. According to feedback from some traders, the release of end-user demand remains sluggish, and the fundamental supply-demand imbalance continues to accumulate. Overall, market sentiment has become more cautious, with operations still primarily focused on proactive shipments.
Medium-thick plate: On March 9, the average price of 20mm common plates in 24 major cities across the country was 3,372 yuan/ton, up 17 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. Spot market quotations were primarily driven by rising prices, with a generally positive trading atmosphere. However, transaction performance showed slight divergence. In key regions such as Jiangyin, Wu'an, and Guangzhou in East, South, and North China, large-volume transactions were relatively active, though demand in some peripheral areas fell short of expectations. On the supply side, steel mills have seen an increase in product orders, leading to higher locked-in prices. While market circulation deliveries slowed slightly, both steel mill inventories and social inventories declined.
